Chinavirusmeltdownshitshow® Update

For my readers out there, let me know how it’s going. I haven’t heard from my regulars in a while and I’m starting to worry. If you prefer not to comment here you can send me an email through my contact page.

As for me, I am still working, and in fact working harder. My job is one of the “essential” to the country right now. Business is about the same but I’m doing more work because we have fewer people. Currently about 20% of my coworkers aren’t coming in. None of them are sick, but a few do have preexisting health conditions so I guess they don’t want to take any chances. I certainly don’t blame them. One of my coworkers is perfectly healthy; he just refuses to come to work. Evidently management can’t do anything, or won’t. I suspect over the next few weeks our workforce will continue to drop, until we can’t get the job done anymore. Then I don’t know what the company will do. I’m not sure they do either. IF management has a plan they’re not sharing it with us lowly workers.

I went 18 days between grocery store visits. A lot of the stock had been replenished but the idiocy continues, this time as much from the store as the customers. I’m not wanting for much so I won’t be visiting them again until it’s an absolute necessity.

At home I have several projects I’ve been putting off and hopefully I can get started on them now. I’m also writing and reading more. I’ll probably be blogging more too, until things return to “normal,” if that’s even possible.

  1. Captain Pilecki checking in and reporting for duty .

I am on Day 8 of my potential COVID-19 exposure from a patient that tested positive, while wearing my full PPE. No symptoms and still in-house isolating from my wife until next Monday. She has been temporarily laid off, so she has been doing yard and house work, as well as making dinner ready when I get home.

I remain armed at all times when not actually on duty at the firehouse, but my firearm is close by. Loaded and locked in a “Gun vault” in my truck. As soon as I get off, it is back on my person. I do not want to get caught unprepared in case shit goes sideways.

  2. I’m doing fine but did get furloughed. Hopefully I can get back to work in May. I have some savings and I’m sell things on ebay, but if this last longer than that I’m going to be in trouble.
