Growing Up Old School, by Tab LaFollette, is a very enjoyable book about growing up in the 1960s and 70s. There are some minor proofreading issues that can be distracting at times, but if you would like to relive some old memories, or just want to know what it was like to be a child of that era, this book is a good place to start.

Three Sips of Gin: Dominating the Battlespace with Rhodesia’s Elite Selous Scouts, by Tim Bax, is an excellent personal memoir. Despite the book’s title this is not just a collection of war stories, but about Mr. Bax’s life and the world that he knew. I enjoyed it very much and believe you will as well.

The Lion Tamer’s Daughter by Alyssa Helton is not the type of fiction I normally find myself reading. I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed it though. If you are looking for an uplifting, entertaining story with memorable characters and an interesting surprise or two, this is just what you’re looking for.
Lost a great one
Just read of the death of author Tom Wolfe, a truly talented and groundbreaking writer. My favorite of his many great books would have to be The Right Stuff, which was also made into an excellent movie.

If you are into apocalyptic zombie fiction you need to check out – Zombie Road: Convoy of Carnage by David A. Simpson. The book is not perfect, but was definitely a fun read. I highly recommend it.
